As we pack up our beloved Christmas decorations and crafts, it’s time to look towards Valentine’s Day in February.
We wanted to create something that you could gift to your girlfriends, mum, grandma or co-workers. What better way to give them something as special as a cup of tea that can travel about with them?
This hand embroidered pouch can hold two tea bags and will slip easily into a handbag or backpack.

Print the template and cut out the Valentine Tea Bag patterns. Trace the patterns on freezer paper or on felt. You can use any combination of the felt fabric colours.
For this sample, we used Pink and Candy. If using freezer paper, trace the patterns, then iron on to felt fabric, then cut out.
Pin the Tea Bag Pouch base and Tea Bag Pouch pocket (only one) pattern to the felt fabric. Place on a felting pad and pierce the dots on the pattern with a pin.
Carefully poke a fine tip pen trough the pierced holes. Take care not to be heavy handed with the pen; you just need a light mark. Remove pins from the patterns to reveal the dots.
Set aside.
Cut out the bag paper and tea bag tag stencil centers. Pin them to the felt pad as shown.
With Scarlet wool (you can choose your colour), felt within the center of the hearts. With a pin, pierce the ‘tea’ dots.
Remove stencils and felt a little more to clean up the outside lines.
Pin the tea bag and tea bag tag in place referencing the Tea Bag Pouch base. Whip stitch a single red thread around the tea bag and the tea bag tag. Remove pins and back stitch ‘Tea’ with a daisy stitch to look like a heart.
Following the dots, stem stitch with two threads in pink on the tea bag and tea bag tag string.
Cut a second Tea Bag Pouch pocket from Candy felt fabric. Stitch a blanket stitch on the top edge of each pocket as shown.
Fold the dashed lines on the Tea Bag Pouch base pattern up. Lining up the curved top of the Tea Bag Pouch base pattern on the felt fabric, pin in place. Line up the bottom edge of the pocket to the folded edge (carefully pinning the pocket in place). Stitch a back stitch close to the bottom of the pocket.
Line up the pocket with the heart tag to the bottom edge of the base, pin in place.
Stitch a blanket stitch around the entire base, catching the pockets in the stitches.
Fold the top of the base over the pockets. Front and back views.
Snip as shown for the button hole. Stitch around the inside edge of the button hole.
Stitch a ladybird bead on the bottom pocket (do not stitch through to the back).
Place a tea bag in each pocket.
Fold top over and close button.
